Antoine-Emmanuel ROUSSELLE-LAURENT que l’on nomme tout simplement Antoine est un vrai citoyen du monde, il est de ceux qui le parcourent autant qu’ils le peuvent.
Antoine est un artiste aux multiples facettes, aux nombreuses routes ; vidéaste & photographe, peintre & sculpteur, créateur numérique & performeur… Enfant de la génération X, il décide de faire de son Art un métier au milieu des années 90, se nourrissant des maîtres classiques, s’abreuvant de Pop Art, baigné dans les émergentes cultures Street & Électronique.
Son travail artistique et son exigence s’harmonisent entre une technique maîtrisée, un développement conceptuel humaniste et une esthétique riche et sophistiquée. Cette recherche de perfection, d’équilibre par cette trinité, n’aura de cesse de le guider.
Dès le changement de siècle, la technique étant enfin au point, Antoine précurseur, crée une première série d’estampes numériques qu’il retouche manuellement pour en faire des œuvres hybrides mi tableau, mi photo. Cette série grand format et celles qui suivront rencontreront un grand succès qui pousse Antoine à interpréter encore et encore ces portraits chargés, riches de détails et aux discours humanistes.
L’Art d’Antoine est inclassable ; Il paraît très Pop au premier abord, mais il est baigné de symbolisme, toute la narration y est méticuleusement structurée. Puis en s’affranchissant du message il vous entraîne dans une abstraction de formes et de couleurs hypnotiques.
Antoine se balade les yeux grands ouverts dans notre monde d’hyper communication, bombardé d’images, fouetté d’informations, il y construit des ponts vers des réflexions, ouvre des fenêtres quand les portes sont fermées, invite le spectateur à pénétrer dans l’univers de ses personnages dont il revient plus riche, plus lumineux.
Tel une icône moderne, le personnage central de chaque œuvre en noir et blanc contraste du fond coloré enveloppé d’une mosaïque des événements marquants et fabuleux de sa vie et de son époque, la composition de chaque portrait est la clé toute personnelle d’Antoine, c’est à voir, c’est à vivre, c’est tout simplement beau et touchant.

Antoine, child of the Generation X
Antoine-Emmanuel ROUSSELLE-LAURENT, or more simply known as Antoine, is a true citizen of the world, as one who has traveled around it as often as possible.
Antoine is a multifaceted artist, who has explored many different avenues. He is a video maker, photographer, painter, sculptor, performance artist as well as a digital creator … As a Gen Xer, he decided, in the mid-90s, to turn his art into his career. He fed himself on the classics, drank in the influences of Pop Art and soaked in the emerging cultures of Street and Electro.
His work has evolved to meet his high standards through perfecting his technique, with an approach that simultaneously reflects his humanist values and deep appreciation of sophisticated aesthetics. The continuing research of perfection and balance has never stopped guiding him.
This century’s changes and technological advances has allowed Antoine to pioneer into new realms of art. He has made a series of digital prints that have been manually enhanced… to create hybrid works, a true mix of painting and photo. This series of large sized portraits has met with tremendous success, allowing Antoine to continue to reinterpret these rich images over and over. Each one is filled with visual details and a humanist approach.
Antoine’s art can’t be classified. At first glance is it seems very Pop, but it is steeped in symbolism with a meticulously constructed storyline. Once freed from the message, one is also able to submerge oneself in abstract form and hypnotic colors.
Antoine roams around our world with his eyes wide open. In an age of hyper-connection, where one is blasted with images and beaten with information, he has built bridges towards thought and reflection, opening windows where doors were closed. He invites his audience to enter into his subject’s universe and return more illuminated and with richer understandings.
Choosing modern icons as his main subjects, each one is predominantly displayed in black and white while surrounded in a background of colorful mosaic images. These images are fabulous and noteworthy moments in the life and times of the person. The composition of each portrait is as telling of the subject as of the artist. It is to be seen, it is to be experienced. It is simply beautiful and deeply touching.
